They are an innovative, world-class company that uses strong experience in engineering and production to consistently deliver functional and reliable products to the agreed specification, performance, price and delivery.

Foremost Industries is a leading company with a strong reputation, continuing to be at the top of its industry through design innovation, process refinement, and investment in people and technology. Foremost truly values its employees, and provides them with ongoing training and support, along with a nurturing work environment.

About the Opportunity

Due to expansion, Foremost Industries is looking to hire Journeyman Mechanics and Apprentices for their shop in Calgary, Alberta.

The primary purpose of these roles is to install or assemble major or minor subassemblies for any type of vehicle or rig.

The Journeyman Mechanic will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Working with minimal direction to most complicated drawings, sketches, layout boards, etc.;
  • Ensuring assemblies meet quality and performance requirements;
  • Maintaining a set of tools required to perform assembly functions;
  • Performing other tasks related to his/her classification.

You are a qualified licensed tradesperson in the Province of Alberta. The position would suit applicants who have their Journeyman Certification and several years of experience in a similar role.

The Apprentice Mechanic position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Working under the direction and/or verbal instruction of more senior employees in accordance with normal Apprentice regulation until
  • necessary schooling is completed (and then is elevated to higher classification);
  • Performing work in their respective trades utilizing skills and equipment required;
  • Purchasing and maintaining a set of tools to perform functions as experience dictates; and
  • Attaining Journeyman status within five (5) years of registration.

The successful candidate must be Certified from a recognized training facility, or have demonstrated the ability to meet the above requirements to the satisfaction of Management.

The successful Apprentice Machinist will be a reliable, well organized person who is eager to learn, but can also be trusted to work unsupervised when required.

Most importantly, you will be an enthusiastic 'go getter' with a strong work ethic and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment. If you have high attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines, this is the role for you!

These positions are career roles that will suit candidates seeking a secure, long-term opportunity, not "just another job". It is the ideal opportunity to set yourself up for the future with genuine opportunities for growth and career progression!

About the Benefits

In reward for your efforts you will be given generous rates of up to $28.74 for Journeyman Machinists and up to $27.32 for fourth year Apprentice Machinists including overtime premiums.

The successful candidates will receive generous company matching RSP as well as an extensive Group Medical Benefits plan.

Foremost Industries employees receive excellent benefits including:

  • Attractive rates;
  • Two weeks vacation with the opportunity to earn more vacation days the longer you are with the company;
  • Health and welfare benefits;
  • A friendly team culture; and
  • Opportunities for continued training and courses are also supported and promoted on an individual basis.

Foremost Industries is also a union shop under the National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation and General Workers Union of Canada.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an exciting and vibrant company with management who are open minded and accepting of new ideas.
