Horizon Oil Sands Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for: • Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray • Company Sponsored Fly In/Fly Out and Camp Accommodation Program with charter flights available from Calgary or Edmonton
Position Summary
THE OPPORTUNITY: The Process Technician will contribute to successful operations by monitoring, operating, adjusting and maintaining Sulphur Recovery Units within Primary Upgrading areas at the Horizon Oil Sands • Contribute your Sulphur Plant expertise by working on the following units: • Diethanolamine (DEA) Gas Treating Unit • Modified Claus Sulphur Recovery Units (2 trains at 450 tonnes/day) • SCOT Tail Gas Treating Unit using Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) • Sour Water Unit • Sulphur Degassing Unit
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK? • Participate in process start-ups, shut-downs and isolations • Prepare process units and equipment for routine maintenance • Sample products, perform tests, record data and maintain a log of process conditions, changes and upsets • Learn and implement standard operating procedures • Apply Lock Out and Tag Out procedures contributing to a safe plant • Issue permits following corporate industry and operations standards • Generate computer based Work Orders • Mentor and train peers through the qualification process • Participate in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment
QUALIFICATIONS: • A college or technical diploma (or equivalent) in process operations or 3+ years working in a sulphur recovery/amine facility • Expertise in the following operating units: Sulphur Degrassing Unit, Sour Water Unit and DEA Gas Treating Unit. • Operating experience with shell & tube or plate exchangers, force lubricated/flushed pumps and compressors, steam turbines, cotton string and carbon filters and flame front generators would be an asset
