You will be trained in power tool usage, carpentry/framing techniques, blueprint reading, electricity basics, welding, masonry basics, safety, WHMIS, and applied construction mathematics.
The ability to practice professional conduct on-site, and communicate and work effectively in a team environment will be key to your success. You will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate these skills throughout the program.
The Construction Skills program opens up a number of options to you. You could:
Graduate and seek employment in the construction sector
Pursue an apprenticeship in a variety of construction-related trades
Or use the Construction Skills program to explore which trades most interest you
Add more specialized skills by continuing on to one or more of our short, skilled trade programs such as Welding, Electrical Techniques, or Plumbing Techniques.
