Pipeline Operator

Rocky Mountain Operations

Cheyenne, WY

This position uses certain tools and techniques to assess crude petroleum products for purity standards for transportation by pipeline to gathering station. Maintains tankage and pumping facilities for proper and safe storage and transfer of crude products.

Responsibilities

Inspects and gauges tankage. Inspects pumps for proper operation. Takes meter readings and completes daily inventory reports. Performs monthly DOT tankage inspections, fire extinguisher inspections reports and maintains associated records. Inspects perimeter fencing, locks, etc. to maintain proper facility security. Will witness meter provings when required. Inspects and assures that routine maintenance is performed on mixers, motors, gearboxes, valves, and clock charts and maintains associated records such as temperature average readings. Maintains communications with Pipeline Controls, Originates and makes sure that custody transfer tickets are entered into system.

Takes LACT readings checking sampler. Calibrates BS&W monitors, witnesses, where requested, meter provings. Runs scrapers weekly/monthly as needed. Maintains communications with Pipeline Controls. Assists in leak repairs. Completes chemical reports monthly. Works crude at customer battery for purity standards (gravity, condensation, etc.). Schedules run time, maintains, and runs field pumps. Inspects and maintains pipeline security in the field. Works sample pots monthly or as needed. Monitor ROW for activity (digging, plowing, etc. on or near ROW) and reports any infractions.

Education and Training

High school diploma or equivalent with some math skills and the ability to speak, read and write English and have, or be able to quickly acquire, basic computer/PC skills. As job proficiency is attained, must be able to calculate fluid flow, determine and perform batch scheduling and coordinate related activities and be proficient in basic sampling equipment. Must have a valid drivers license.

Technical Requirements

Must be able to successfully complete Haz-Mat training, safety awareness training and any related required training and certifications
