Under general direction, provides energy efficiency analysis for mechanical and electrical systems (i.e., HVAC, lighting, building automation, etc.) within commercial and industrial facilities and provides recommendations for building modifications to improve energy efficiency. Provides analyses on an independent both simple and complex facilities. Conducts on-site energy audits, develop various measures to improve energy efficiency and documents measures, along with estimated cost and savings, in a written report. May provide support to client during project implementation. Responsible to work with assigned staff from client organization. May provide project-based oversight or mentoring for less experienced Energy Efficiency Engineers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Provide analyses of client facilities to identify opportunities to improve client's energy efficiency. Develops energy efficiency measures and the associated cost and savings.
Performs detailed engineering and financial analysis to quantify cost savings and other customer benefits. Leads or assists with technical or financial benchmarking as needed. Leads in the development of customer baselines.
May provide project support for client during energy efficiency project implementation.
Provides written reports detailing energy efficiency opportunities.
Mentors and supports less experienced engineers in providing energy engineering services
Assists in presenting information and solutions to technical and economic buyers in the customer organization.
Participates in transition meetings with Facility Operations to ensure project intent is preserved.
Applies and procures rebates and other available financial incentives related to the projects.
Leads cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of multiple components of the project.
May help manage LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and Energy Star efforts as desired by the customer.
Provides support for energy efficient design within new client facilities.
Selects energy efficient products such as lighting, HVAC, etc and conduct pilot trials to prove savings and obtain necessary customer approvals prior to rolling out system changes.
Other Duties:
Uses standard JCI development processes and tools in performing tasks
Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors as well as all levels of customer's organization.
Remains current with relevant engineering or design standards and practices
Mentors less experienced staff
Participates in relevant professional organizations
Maintains relevant professional certifications and licenses (e.g., Professional Engineering license)
Responsible for the promotion and adherence of JCI safety policies
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field as appropriate. Masters degree preferred. Five to eight years experience in building systems or operational processes. Function-specific licenses or certifications (e.g., Professional Engineering license for engineering-related roles, etc.) and advanced engineering degree preferred. Possess strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects. Fully competent in analysis and assessment of facility systems. Effectively leading in team settings. Has good written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable working in customer-facing situations. Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
