The supervision of one or more employee support technician(s).The repair, maintenance and upgrading of the BAS. This system impacts all site utilities and many scientific systems. The BAS has a replacement cost in excess of $10.0 million. Provide engineering, operating and maintenance management for all instrumentation supporting the systems, equipment and utilities that the Facilities Engineering department is responsible for.
 
 
·         Provide direct supervision of subordinate(s) and management of assigned responsibilities.
·         Take full responsibility as the system manager of complex distributed control systems used throughout the R&D facilities.
·          Provide programming, configuring, troubleshooting and training services to the Facilities Engineering department for microprocessor based control systems.
·         Provide validation services for software based control systems including the BAS.
·         With minimal supervision, provide engineering services related to the execution of facilities instrument/control projects
·         Manage the repair, calibration and preventive maintenance of all facility instrumentation and equipment.
·         Proactively look for ways to improve department operations and/or reduce costs through the use of better control technologies and systems.
·         Stay informed on current developments in the field of process instrumentation and remain active in professional activities and organizations.
·         Develop annual objectives as well as strategies and plans for achieving them.
·         Assist in the development of capital budgets and estimates.
·         Assist in the development of strategic direction plans for site BAS and control systems.
·         Provide project management support and/or execution for complex capital projects that affect all instrumented systems.  This will include hardware specification, software review and validation/qualification assistance.
·         Assume full responsibilities during emergencies to ensure all instrumented and BAS systems are functional with minimal safety and/or operational disruption to the site.
·         Work with facilities and scientific groups on a daily basis and make independent decisions on the provision of services and support that affect all aspects of the R&D community.
        

Qualifications

 ·         Bachelors degree in engineering or current work towards an engineering degree with at least nine (9) years applicable experience.
·         Minimum of six (5) years experience in the operation, maintenance and configuration of industrial control systems such as DDC and PLC based systems.
·         Minimum of six (5) years experience in the pharmaceutical industry including the application of cGMP's to instrumentation design and validation.
·         Minimum of four (4) years experience in the supervision of skilled technicians.
·         Must have extensive knowledge in HVAC applications, purified water systems and process control systems as related to the pharmaceutical industry.
·         Must possess excellent written/oral communication skills.
·         Must have the ability to implement computer based programs to support the facilities operations.
·         Has the ability to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
