Looking for Welders

APComPower Inc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ALSTOM Power Inc, the power industry’s premier supplier of equipment and services, is looking for welders.  Our projects are positioned throughout the country and include new boiler construction as well as maintenance work.   Positions will require temporarily relocating to our different job locations, such as:

· Pueblo, CO  · Kansas City, MO  ·Illinois   ·Texas   · Other locations around the US 

Our projected workload will be increasing dramatically over the next several months and years.  We need qualified men and women with construction skills for tube and plate welding positions.  Qualified welders are needed for September-December 2007 and beyond to 2010.  Applicant must be able to legally work in the US, pass a drug test and take an OSHA 10-hr safety training class.

If you are willing to travel to our many job site locations, we are interested in evaluating your welding skills and then have you take a weld test at a local facility in the Houston area.  We are also looking for applicants with some welding experience that with additional training could pass a tube test.  We will provide training with pay in Houston in exchange for a one year commitment to the company. 

Applicant must pass:

•  A heavy wall tube test in a 6G position using TIG and metal arc (GTAW/SMAW process) on carbon steel

•  Some applicants will be tested for a three-position plate test (horizontal, vertical and overhead)

Positions pay $22/hour to $40/hour, depending on job site location.  During the spring and fall outage seasons, maintenance jobs may be working 6 days/week, 10 hours/day, others 7/12’s.  Some new construction projects will extend out for several months.  Depending on customer contracts, jobs may or may not have subsistence or travel pay.  During the winter and summer seasons, work could be available in an ALSTOM fabrication facility.  Our financial compensation for these positions is very competitive.

Welding position requires:

•  3 to 5 years of field construction tube-welding experience or related training (weld school)

•  working safely inside and around large utility boilers and related equipment

•  properly fitting up tubing / piping prior to welding with assistance from another welder working with you.  Some occasional plate welding will be required as well.
