Responsibilities:
The primary intent of the Upstream Americas (UA) Drilling/Completion Foreman internship program is to provide interested individuals with the opportunity to learn about and participate in Shell’s Drilling and/or Completion field operations and the opportunity to preview the lifestyle and work schedules required to be a successful Foreman in Shell’s UA Wells organization. This internship also allows Shell to observe the potential value these individuals could bring to the organization if hired on a full-time basis.
Each individual selected for the program will be assigned to a senior Foreman who will serve as that individual’s mentor. Interns are expected to adhere to all Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards, as HSSE is critical to all aspects of Shell’s operations. Interns will have the opportunity to work with the latest technology and learn from experienced staff, while being involved in many of the following activities:
·Participating in and conducting daily HSSE meetings and assessments to drive HSSE performance in the field
·Planning, supervising and documenting well activities and driving performance in these activities without compromising HSSE
·Tracking costs and managing budgets according to estimates
·Well handovers/handbacks between Shell organizations
·Implementation of new techniques and technologies
·Interfacing with Shell engineering staff, Procurement, HSSE group, regulatory, internal Shell stakeholders and external contractors
Requirements:
In order to receive consideration for this internship program, you must have completed at least the first year of one of the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree programs listed below and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA:
·Compressor or Compression Technology
·Construction Management
·Engineering Technology
·Industrial Technology
·Oil & Gas Technology
·Petroleum Services/Petroleum Technology
·Production Technology
In addition to meeting the above stated academic requirements, you must meet the following basic requirements:
1.You must have the legal right to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring sponsorship. Please note that Shell will not sponsor workers requiring a visa for this position at any time in the future.
2.Willingness to submit to and obtain satisfactory results from hair follicle drug testing.
3.Willingness to submit to and achieve satisfactory results on all background, medical and reference checks.
4.Willingness to fully embrace Shell’s Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) policies and programs.
5.Willingness to support Shell’s policy of a drug-free and harassment-free work environment.
6.Willingness to work a schedule that may include a brief period in an office environment, but is mainly a 2-week on/2-week off rotation in a field operations environment, which could be onshore or offshore.
7.For offshore locations, must be willing to ride in a helicopter or boat over open water, take/pass a basic swimming test, transfer to/from a boat using personnel basket swung by a crane or using a swing rope. Federal law requires individuals working offshore to either possess or be able to qualify to receive a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.
8.Willingness to work at heights, climb ladders/stairs and walk on high elevation grating as needed.
9.Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
10.Willingness to travel to/from home to work location prior to start and after end of each rotation, whether remote onshore or offshore location. Shell will reimburse or provide all related travel and living expenses for each rotation. Some accommodations will be Shell-provided housing where accommodation sharing is required and may be located on the well location.
11.Ability to use basic computer programs including email, Microsoft-related applications and some Shell-specific web-based programs.
The following will be preferred:
1.Prior work experience in either an industrial, agricultural, marine, manufacturing or a military work environment.
2.Prior work experience in an environment with formal safety policies/procedures.
3.Prior experience in a drilling/completion operations environment.
4.Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for offshore and/or onshore drilling and completion operations.
