Shell is currently seeking Welder's to work at the Fort McMurray Shell Albian Sands mining project.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Mechanical Shift Team Leader, this challenging position requires that you provide efficient, reliable and safe mechanical and welding repairs on equipment at the Muskeg River Mine, in the field and shop areas on a days/nights rotation.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Provide efficient, reliable and safe maintenance and welding repairs and/or fabrication on mining equipment; includes, but not limited to, hydraulic shovels, haul trucks, dozers and all support equipment.
Equipment may be in the field or shop.
Performs related tasks, such as cutting and grinding.
Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products, preparatory to welding.
Utilizes gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
Accountable to the delivery of the Maintenance Plan.
Accountable to the consistent prioritization of field repair issues in conjunction with the shift Team Lead.
Operates machines to diagnose defects and position machines for maintenance.
Inspects machines to diagnose defects, damage and excessive wear
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than current employer
No "fly in, fly out" option is offered with this position. Relocation to Fort McMurray
Must be Red Seal Certified Journeyman certified with B Pressure
Previous experience working on large mining equipment such as shovels, excavators, haul trucks, dozers, graders and loaders.
Able to dismantle and reassemble equipment components using hoists and slings.
Knowledge and experience operating various equipment for positioning and diagnosing purposes.
Experience with both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
Ability to conceive innovative and cost effective solutions to problems.
